Most of the patients in Dental colleges are given substandard treatments. A patient was seen wearing full denture with root remanant of right lower premolar. When full mouth xrays done two more roots were found. This is the quality of treatment which private dental colleges are giving to the patients. Is it fair ? |

According to the patients; treatment in dental colleges is not cheaper because for a simple treatment they have to visit time and again and the amount they spend on the convenience is much more than they would have paid while getting treatment from private practioner. Is it fair ? |

A lecturer in a private dental college in Rajasthan was not given proper care for his dental problem in prostheic department. He had to visit to distant places 4 times in three months and spend about 20,000 for lodging, boarding and car expenses.
He complained to the principle of the college but no action taken and the lecturer resigned. Is it not shameful for the doctors working in prosthetic department of that college and administration of the institute. Is it fair ? |

A poor patient for the purpose of saving some money went to the dental college for a simple class I amalgam.
He was asked to deposit Rs/- 40. He was very happy that he saved about hundred rupees. Some student handled the case.
He exposed the pulp and the patient was advised x-ray. He deposited rupees twenty for x-ray and was advised root canal
treatment which is very cheap in the dental college. He deposited rupees three hundred and root canal was started.
He had to visit the hospital for about 6 times and spend about two hundred on rikshaw and tempoo etc. Root canal was
completed and the patient went to his home. While taking his dinner the crown of tooth which was root treated fractured.
Again he went to the dental college and the doctor detailed him that jacket crown is very cheap in dental college.
Gold crown cost only 200 and metal ceramic cost only 700. Private practioners outside will cut your pocket and charge
about three thousand rupees. The patient deposited rupees 700 for metal ceramic crown but while cutting the tooth the doctor's
opinion changed and he advised the patient for post and core before crowning. rupees 500 more was deposited and treatment
started and completed only in 4 sittings. The patient was happy that ultimately by the grace of doctors of dental colleges
the tooth was saved. The next day while taking lunch the crown as well as the post came out and the patient again went to the dental
college and the doctor advised him extraction. He deposited rupees 20 for x-ray and rupees 30 for extraction but before that blood
sugar test should be done and for that he he deposited rupees twenty and was advised to come the next day. Next day while extracting
tooth the internee broke the root and now it was to be extracted by operation and the patient was told to deposit rupees 200 for open
extraction. He deposited rupees 200 and extraction was done. But before going to home he went to gurudwara and rupees 11 were donated for
prasad and reality which seems to be a story ended. The patient was seen talking to his friend next day " I will prefer to die of dental
problem than to be treated in dental college". Is it fair ? |
